Rare vintage trailers available

When you gain access to a rare vintage trailer it is important to be prepared to make your move. These rare vintage campers are becoming extremely popular and increasingly difficult to find. Today, I Spot77 spotted the trailers on this page.  I immediately stopped my truck, got out and attempted to talk to each owner. You just can't wait or put this off. You might forget, you might lose the address or the trailer could be moved before you return. If you are too shy or if approaching random people scares you then contract me. Its what I do!

Vintage Spartan Available?

The vintage Spartan above is incredibly rare. Imagine my excitement when I spotted this one today! Can you believe the owner is using it as a storage shed? Yup, this this vintage Spartan trailer is being used as a shit container! Not even a man cave! How sad... I need to set up a vintage camper hoarder intervention. OMG!

Vintage 1966 Roadrunner Camper Available

It was a great day! I also Spot77 spotted this great 1966 Roadrunner Camper opportunity.  Drove an hour and explored this trailer from top to bottom.  I must say I was pretty impressed with this trailer.  They don't rank as high on the vintage campers love meter but I really can't see why. The interior paneling is a much finer grade of wood then even the Shasta trailers. Extremely nicely made oak paneling adorned the ceilings and walls. I'm actually accustomed to dealing with the ultra thin orangey colored Shasta wood paneling. The high quality wood inside this Roadrunner made for a very refreshing change.

I will be on my way back to pick this one up tomorrow.

This Shasta Astrodome below is one I picked up recently and renovated a bit. The 1963 Shasta Astrodome is probably one of my very favorite rare vintage trailers. An absolutely fabulous vintage camper indeed! Fell in love with this one.

Vintage Shasta Available?

Ah yes, my final vintage trailer find of the day. A 1968 Shasta Camper. Everyone loves a Shasta Camper! As soon as I Spot77 spotted this one I jumped out and knocked on the front door. Remarkably, the owner was nice enough to give me a guided tour. This one is in rough condition. A really big job. The owner is considering his price overnight.  Fingers crossed. It could become one of those vintage campers available over night!

Well, this was my day. Please leave a comment if you are here. Have a super week a d again, if you want me to find a vintage trailer for you let me know. I see so many Vintage Campers Available!

Vintage Airstream Finder

Vintage Airstream Finder

by Spot77

Many of my followers and friends on my Spot77 Instagram account are very passionate about Vintage Airstreams and other vintage trailers. One of the most prevalent aspects of vintage camper collecting is the extreme level of difficulty that exists in finding these hidden treasures. I personally just seem to have a knack for finding vintage Airstreams as well as other vintage campers.

Many of my closest friends are constantly admonishing me because of my constant unexpected U-turns and especially for my total lack of fear in approaching the owners of these vintage trailers. They watch me in horror from the cab of my truck as I jump fences and knock on doors. Successful vintage Airstream finder acquisitions aren't always an easy task. Sometimes it can be downright dangerous. Always approach people with respect and be extremely cautious when entering someone's property.

I welcome you to contact me if you are serious about acquiring a vintage camper for yourself. I may be able to assist you.

VintageAirstreamfinder

Finding vintage Airstreams  isn't the easiest task these days. Each year these rounded metalic gems become more rare and become more difficult to find. After all, it's now the year 2020 and the trailers I am collecting were made in 1963. A whopping 57 years old now! Truly these are a great treasure when you are actually able to locate one.

Once I am successful at my vintage Airstream finder goals and I drag one home the work truly begins. If you focus on a few specific details BEFORE you purchase a vintage trailer your restoration will go much more smoothly. There are several things that I immediately attempt to identify prior to slapping my money on the table. It is critically important for me personally to summarily determine the following:

Top 10 Things To Inspect On A Vintage Trailer Before Purchasing

  1. Condition of Vintage Airstream trailer main frame. (The base it sits upon)
  2. Functionality of axels and wheels
  3. Extent of exterior shell damage
  4. Any broken windows?
  5. Condition of trailer subflooring as seen from underneath.
  6. Next check the interior ceilings for evidence of leaking.
  7. Inspect everything for water damage and/or wood rot.
  8. Check wires and outlets
  9. Inspection of towing wiring is very important.
  10. Replacing old tires and lubrication of wheel bearings is one of the most important things you should do before moving the old vintage trailer to a new location.

Replacing Vintage Trailer Floors

Replacing Vintage Trailer Floors

Replacing Vintage Trailer Floors is a very rewarding experience. Especially rewarding if you do it yourself.

Recently I replaced the floors in this 1963 Shasta Astrodome Camper. Even though this is a fair amount of work, just about anyone with some stamina can accomplish this themselves. Incredibly more rewarding if you involve the entire family in the process of replacing Vintage trailer floors in your own camper .

Steps To Replacing Vintage Trailer Floors

  1. Visually inspect your trailer floors for water damage, dry rot and any broken subflooring. The subflooring must be in good condition if you intend to replace only the flooring surface.
  2. Search for a loose tile and begin prying off the existing floor tiles. I have found that a painters tool is best. The painter's tool is like a scraper with a heavy handle, beveled edge and pointy edge. Excellent when used with a rubber mallet .
  3. Tap and scrape each tile up. You should see a plywood subflooring underneath the tiles you remove. Sometimes these still have old blackened glue from the tile backing stuck to them. Scrape as much of this off as you can.
  4. When replacing Vintage Trailer floors, your finished job is only as good as your preparation. I like to take a belt sander or grinding pad with an aggressive grit to the subflooring. (Tip: if you run a vacuum cleaner hose near your sander you will suction a great deal of the dust out of the air. This makes for a cleaner job)
  5. Being very careful not to gouge or rut into the subflooring, make the surface as clean and new looking as possible.
  6. Vacuum and clean your entire trailer when done. The worst thing is when your laying new vinyl tiles and sawdust falls into your glue. So make everything very clean and dry.
  7. Depending on your own personal feeling and comfort zone you can either peal and stick your new tiles down or you can first put down a thin glue layer. I personally put a very thin glue layer down. By thin I mean just barely any vinyl glue. Micro thin.
  8. Allow that layer to dry for about 12 hours. It should only be slightly tacky.
  9. Start in the center front of the trailer and slowly work your way to the back. I usually put a permanent marker line down the center of the trailer before I put my glue down. When the glue dries it becomes transparent and your guide line can be very helpful.
Replacing Vintage Trailer Flooring is a wonderful way to top off any vintage camper restoration. Let me know if you need any tips or pointers.

Vintage Campers Spotting

Vintage Campers Spotting can be quite a challenge. As we approach the year 2020 these Vintage campers are becoming more rare by the day. Recently, I have even discovered that vintage campers are actually being sought out and used in demolition derby competitions. Spectators pay to watch old cars pulling vintage trailers being obliterated. Each vintage camper destroyed makes for one less collectible camper. This is really very sad as these campers represent a time in history when families were more inclined to spend time together enjoying nature in a tiny house type setting.

In 2018 I began seeking out these rare camper trailers. I found myself to actually be pretty good at spotting Vintage Campers and tracking down the owners. I actually found the Vintage Shasta Astrodome Camper in the photograph above sitting in an old farmhouse field. What an extraordinary find! I just love this vintage camper and the Shasta Astrodome Camper is actually extremely rare. They were only made in limited production for three years. This camper was manufactured in 1963.

If you are interested in getting involved with Vintage Campers on any level please connect with me. I could help guide you. Here is my Instagram Account as one way of connecting. My Instagram is highly active. I personally invest in all types of real estate including mobile homes, tiny houses, commercial buildings, camp grounds and invest in vintage campers as potential Airbnb investments. Again, feel free to connect with me and exchange ideas.

Also feel free to offer Vintage Campers to me to consider purchasing.

I would love to share with you more about the Vintage Campers that I currently have available. The first one is the one that I truly love the most. The 1963 Shasta Astrodome Camper. Actually, I must say that I am head over heals for these particular vintage campers because they are so incredibly rare. So rare in fact, that I have only run into three other people so far that own one of these. The Shasta Astrodome was only manufactured for three years. The title "ASTRODOME" actually has a double meaning. The "Astro" stands for the sleeper bunk that is up above the trailer and the "Dome" actually indicates that this trailer actually has an indoor bathroom. In other words, the "Dome" is the toilet. Pretty funny and also pretty creative. Probably commanded quite a few jokes in the Shasta manufacturing plant.
